Leveraging her more than 20 years of expertise in business and higher education, Dr. Nagthall (pronounced Nuh-Tall) began her career in academia working in a variety of roles such as an adjunct instructor and professional development coordinator with the largest community college district in the United States. Dr. Nagthall currently provides executive coaching to numerous colleges within the California Community Colleges system to consider proven high-impact practices to close equity gaps using the Guided Pathways framework. In addition, she is an adjunct professor at the Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology (GSEP) and Coastline College as well as an Equity Coach with Achieving the Dream.
The Brooklyn, New York native earned a BS in Marketing and Logistics/Transportation from the University of Maryland, College Park and an MA in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. She received her EdD in Organizational Change and Leadership at the University of Southern California, Rossier School of Education. Dr. Nagthall's dissertation explores the use of culturally relevant instructional practices in STEM. Her research not only highlighted the importance of closing the equity gap in STEM, but it also illuminated the need for educators to take a critical look at instructional practices and foster a mindset for innovation to ensure student success. Dr. Nagthall has also been a featured guest speaker and panel moderator at various colleges and universities.
Dr. Nagthall has served on the board of directors for the South Bay Workforce Investment Board and is also the founder and former President of The Pink Tea Rose Foundation, Incorporated which is an organization that is designed to provide educational scholarships and charitable services to under-served communities in Inglewood and Greater LA area. Enthusiastically committed to community service and public policy, she was honored to receive numerous commendations from various city and state leaders.
During her free time, Dr. Nagthall enjoys binge-watching shows and movies, entertaining and traveling. Her love for travel and immersing herself in different cultures, stems from her parents who emigrated from Sri Lanka and Jamaica and emphasized the importance of exposure to other cultures and traditions. To date, Dr. Nagthall's travels have taken her to several countries that span Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe, Central America and North America. She is a frequent traveler to Italy and is currently learning Italian.
Dr. Nagthall currently resides in Southern California.
